In the latest issue of Acadiana Bird Talk (Acadiana Bird Club's newsletter) the feature article was how to make your own cushion sand perch. The perch had layers of adhesive tape on top and a layer of sand glued to the bottom to act as a nail file for the bird. The article describes in detail the types of fasteners, different size sand, bark removal and other considerations. Below is a picture on one showing an African Grey using it to enter a nest box. This one was made using the jig available for sale on our website to make the slots on the ends. The article is available on our website to club members only.
